The Königssee is a lake in the German state of Bavaria, near the Austrian border. The Königssee is deepest and advertised as the cleanest lake in Germany.
It is so clean that a 16-year-old girl on vacation was able to spot a solid gold bar 2 meters down at the bottom of the lake.
Worth an estimated €16,000, the teenager gave the 500-gram bar to the police. "If no rightful owner is found and the bar is not related to a crime, then the girl will probably be able to keep it," the spokesman said.
