Sara Khatib participated in the Dubai
International Aquatic Championships inching towards a place at the 2014
Youth Olympics. She had the opportunity, the will and the talent with only time
standing in her way.
Sara began her journey competing in the 800 meters
freestyle race, but had a bit of a slow start. But despite the odds, this was a
good experience which pushed her to achieve greater results Day 2.
Sara scored 27.83 seconds in the 50 meters freestyle
race, 0.22 seconds behind the Olympics qualifying time, and this was enough to
place among the Top 8 and qualify for the final race. Sara’s determination led
her to give one of her best performances yet and to finish the race in 27.47
seconds. She grabbed a bronze medal, set a new Lebanese record and most
importantly, reached the 2014 Youth Olympics.
Sara planned to participate in 7 categories but she
preferred to withdraw from 2 events to focus on her main target.
We have a representative in the 2014 Youth Olympics
now! We are
proud of you, Sara! Keep it up!
