Ivan Abreu from Funchal in Madeira, Portugal is organizing the second Madeira Island International Swim Marathon, an event on Madeira Island, a Portuguese archipelago located in the north Atlantic Ocean in November.
"In our first year, there were over 200 swimmers participating in 4 distances: 300m for kids, the popular 1.5 km race, a 5 km and a 10 km marathon swim. Jack Burnell of Great Britain finished first over Germany's Andreas Waschburger and France's Axel Reymond in year one."
This event will also serve as the first leg of the LEN European Open Water Swim Cup. The competitions include the following events:
*Swimming 4 km between Camara de Lobos and Funchal and 5 km between Ponta de São Lourenço and Machico
*Stand Up Paddle Fun Races
*Children's races
*Mountain bike rides
*Jeep Safaris
*200-meter kid's race
*1.5 km popular event
*3 km popular event
* 10 km marathon swim - European Open Water Swim Cup
