June 21st is the start of 100 Days of Blue. Day One ushers in a summer of blue fun.
From June 21st to September 28th, the 100 Days of Blue is a way to engage more people in a conversation about getting near, in, on or under the water daily and sharing their experiences online.
The campaign was instigated by Dr. Wallace J. Nichols, an author, speaker, and researcher who created the Blue Mind Collective. "We work to keep the message simple and inclusive. The idea is to get people to think about their water, their local water, differently – to appreciate the cognitive, emotional, and social value of healthy waterways.
I often ask audiences, 'When was the last time you were completely submerged?' I’ve been surprised by the number of people who answer with a twinge of sadness, 'Never.' I hope through this work we are able to increase the number of people who answer that question by saying 'Last week.'"
