Kazan (RUS), August 3, 2015 - FINA and the Kazan
2015 Organising Committee held today a press conference halfway through the
World Championships currently taking place in Kazan, capital of Tatarstan,
Russia. FINA
praised the Organising Committee for the excellent operations in place and for
a successful first week as well as the first-rate organisation of FINA’s
showcase event.
With three disciplines out of the six now completed, the second part of the World Championships will showcase swimming, high diving and the water polo semi-finals and finals. The FINA World Masters Championships will also kick-off on August 5.
FINA President Dr. Julio C. Maglione mentioned many great moments witnessed in Kazan so far and numerous outstanding performances seen at the Aquatics Palace, the Water Polo Arena and the Kazan Arena, a football stadium transformed into a huge swimming arena for the occasion.
FINA President added: “It is a pleasure to meet with you once again after the first week of the World Championships is completed. Traditional countries have confirmed their strength and we have had amazing surprises such as first medals ever for the People’s Democratic Republic of Korea. I would like to express my sincere gratitude and appreciation for the Organising Committee’s hard work and dedication.”

Kazan 2015 Director General of Executive Directorate for Sports Projects Azat Kadyrov, also a speaker at the press conference said: “I would like to point out the enthusiastic attendance in all our venues. Spectators from different Russian regions and from around the world are coming to Kazan to witness an outstanding aquatic festival hosted in state-of-the-art venues including a football stadium which will be used for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.”

FINA also officialised its partnership with airweave, leading bedding toppers seller in Japan. The partnership will cover the FINA Swimming Word Cup, a prestigious yearly circuit, up to 2017 (3 editions). Both parties officially signed the agreement during the well-attended press conference where media representatives gathered. Moreover airweave will also sponsor the FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) 2016 Windsor (CAN) and the FINA World Championships 2017 in Budapest (HUN) as announced early July.
President Maglione added: “We are very happy with this new agreement and we sincerely thank airweave for their trust and support. As you can see, our events generate an immense interest worldwide and leading brands like airweave naturally wish to be associated with FINA and our values of excellence and prestige.”
