WATER POLO USA Women Roll Past Kazakhstan 20-2 On Day Two Of FINA World League Super Final



Athens, Greece - June 15 - The USA Women's National Team picked up their second straight win at the FINA World League Super Final with a convincing 20-2 victory over Kazakhstan earlier today. Stephania Haralabidis delivered five goals while Amanda Longan recorded 14 saves in net to earn player of the match honors. Team USA closes out group play tomorrow against Spain at 9:45am et/6:45am pt. Team USA left no doubt in this match as they exploded for nine goals in the first quarter to take control of the contest. Maddie Musselman scored all three of her goals in the match in the first quarter, joined by two goals each from Haralabidis and Makenzie Fischer to help build the early advantage. Rachel Fattal opened the second quarter with two straight goals before Kazakhstan got on the board to make it 11-1. The United States responded with four more goals, two from Haralabidis and a score each from Jamie Neushul and Paige Hauschild to build a 15-2 lead at halftime.

Things slowed in the third quarter as Kaleigh Gilchrist connected for the only score of the period to make it 16-2 going into the final eight minutes. In the fourth, the red, white and blue added four more goals including the second of the match from both Hauschild and Alys Williams on the way to the 20-2 final.

The United States went 6/11 on power plays and racked up five penalty shot scores going 5/6 on the day. Kazakhstan was 0/3 on power plays and did not attempt a penalty.
