Der zweite Tag der Kurzbahn-Europameisterschaft in Glasgow begann mit dem Rennen über 200m Freistil. Die FLNS schickte mit Max Mannes, Remi Fabiani und Pit Brandenburger gleich drei Athleten ins Wasser. Im zweiten Vorlauf kam es zum Duell Max Mannes gegen Rémi Fabiani mit dem besseren Ende für den SL-Schwimmer, der in 1:46,43 ein perfektes Debüt im Einzelrennen bei seiner ersten Europameisterschaft der offenen Klasse feiern konnte. Damit war der 22-Jährige exakt eine Sekunde schneller als bei den nationalen Meisterschaften vor zwei Wochen in Differdingen als er sich in 1:47,43 den Titel sicherte und belegt in der Endabrechnung Platz 33 unter 56 Athleten.
“Bin sehr zufrieden, mein Ziel war es unter 1:47 zu schwimmen, das hab ich geschafft”.
Remi Fabiani waren die 200m Rücken und die Staffel gestern anzumerken, er kam in 1:48,80 als Achter seines Vorlaufes ins Ziel.
Pit Brandenburger schwamm direkt im Anschluss im dritten Lauf auf der Aussenbahn. In 1:47,26 blieb der 24-Jährige nur knapp über seiner Bestzeit von 1:46,88. Bei der Hälfte des Rennens lag der Sportsoldat mit 51,93 Sekunden noch auf Bestzeit-Kurs, fand aber von Beginn an nicht den richtigen Rhythmus.
Monique Olivier hatte ihren ersten Einsatz in Glasgow über 100m Freistil. In 56,32 blieb die 21-Jährige nur winzige sechs Hundertstel über ihrer Bestzeit aus dem November 2018.
Ein Novum gab es im Rennen über 100m Rücken. Erstmals standen sich drei FLNS-Schwimmer im direkten Duell gegenüber. Im dritten Vorlauf kämpften Max Mannes, Remi Fabiani und Raphaël Stacchiotti um die Rangordnung im Rückenschwimmen. Raphaël Stacchiotti liess keine Zweifel aufkommen und stellte in 53,34 einen neuen Landesrekord auf, was ihn auf Rang 45 unter 62 Konkurrenten brachte.
„Es ist immer cool, Bestzeit zu schwimmen. Ich kann noch zwei kleine Dinge verbessern, eine Zeit unter 53 Sekunden ist durchaus möglich. Das Rennen war ein guter Einstand in die EM“. Seine alte Bestmarke stand bei 53,50 vom November 2019. Max Mannes verpasste in 54,10 seine Bestzeit nur um 12 Hundertstel und belegte Rang 51.
Rémi Fabiani kam in 55,80 nicht an seine Bestzeit von 54,16 heran und wurde 58.
