Dansk Svømmeunion - Danmark stempler ind ved EM

Nordisk rekord, tre semifinaler og en juniorrekord er overskrifterne efter førstedagen ved EM.
Tre danske svømmere havde kvalificeret til sig til det første finaleafsnit ved dette års EM Kortbane. Første dansker i EM-bassinet var Tobias B. Bjerg fra AGF / NTC, som skulle forsøge at følge op på sin fænomenale formiddagstid på 50 meter brystsvømning.
Her havde brystsvømmeren svømmet en tid så hurtig som 26.14, hvilket ikke blot var en forbedring af hans hidtidige danske rekord på 26.47. Det var også en forbedring af den nordiske rekord, som indtil i dag var 26.19 og svømmet helt tilbage i 2009 af norske Aleksander Hetlands.
I semifinalen mistimede den nye nordiske rekordholder dog sin start og endte med tiden 26.34 på en samlet 9. plads – lige akkurat uden for finalepladserne.
Matilde Schrøder fra Berns Swim Team / NTC var også i aktion i kvindernes semifinale på 50 meter brystsvømning. Her svømmede Matilde 30.41, hvilket er personlig rekord med 0,05 sekunder. Tiden var dog ikke hurtig nok til at sende hende videre til finalen, idet hun endte på en samlet 10. plads.
Rygcrawler Victoria Bierre fra Herlev Svømning / NTC havde kvalificeret sig til kvindernes semifinaler på 100 meter rygcrawl. Victoria slog ind i tiden 59.09, hvilket var en forbedring af hendes kvalifikationstid på 0,2 sekunder og blot få hundrededele fra hendes personlige rekord. Victoria ender på en samlet 15. plads og avancerer fra sin seedning som nummer 19.
Om dagens EM-resultater siger landstræner Stefan Hansen:

- Vi havde et godt afsnit i morges, hvor vi får tre svømmere med videre til aftenens finaler. Derudover præsterer vi en nordisk og dansk rekord samt en dansk juniorrekord, hvilket vi er tilfredse med. Til aften mangler vi de berømte marginaler, og vi kommer til at bruge aftenens oplevelser som benzin de næste par dage, for jeg mener, vi kan præstere bedre end det, vi viste, og det glæder jeg mig til at se.

Dansk juniorrekord på 50 meter brystsvømning
EM-debutanten Clara Rybak-Andersen fra Gentofte Svømmeklub svømmede tidligere på dagen 50 meter brystsvømning. Her satte den unge brystsvømmer hænderne i væggen i tiden 31.40, hvilket ikke blot var personlig rekord. Det var også en forbedring på 0,04 sekunder af Thea Blomsterbergs hidtidige juniorrekord på distancen.
En anden EM-debutant Mikkel Gadgaard fra Esbjerg Svømmeklub svømmede på 400 meter fri personlig rekord med tiden 3.43.75. Mikkel blev samlet nummer 16 og avancerede 5 pladser fra sin seedningstid.

Øvrige benævnelsesværdige EM-resultater
Den russiske sprinter Vlademir Morozov svømmede europæisk rekord på 50 meter brystsvømning. Med tiden 25.51 forbedrede han italienerens Fabio Scozzoli hidtidige rekord, der lød på 25.62.

Endelig formåede juniorsvømmeren Benedetta Pilato fra Italien at svømme ny verdensrekord for juniorer på 50 meter brystsvømning. Den rekord er nu så hurtig som 29.32.

Finaleafsnit 5. – 8. december: 18.00 (dansk tid).
