Danmark vinder sin 4. EM-medalje og præsterer en nordisk samt to danske rekorder.
Pernille Blume fra Sigma Swim Birkerød havde kvalificeret sig til kvindernes finale på 100 meter fri i 2. hurtigste tid. I finalen svømmede Pernille 0,13 sekunder hurtigere end sin kvalifikationstid, men det var ikke nok til at komme på podiet i Glasgow, idet Pernille slog ind som nummer fem.
Tobias B. Bjerg fra AGF / NTC leverede en suveræn præstation i herrernes semifinaler i 100 meter brystsvømning. Tobias svømmede sig med tiden 57.14 videre til EM-finalen, hvilket bliver hans første individuelle. I semifinalen forbedrede Tobias sin personlige rekord med 0.45 sekunder, og da han er indehaver af den danske rekord på distancen, er tiden dermed også ny dansk rekord.
Den nordiske herrerekord på 100 meter bryst er 57.05.
Den danske butterflysvømmer fra Holstebro SvømmeClub, Helena Rosendahl Bach, svømmede fredag aften sin karrieres første individuelle EM-finale. I finalen på 200 meter butterfly kom Helena i mål som nummer fem i tiden 2.06.12, hvilket var personlig rekord med 0,35 sekunder.
Matilde Schrøder fra Berns Swim Team / NTC og Josefine B. Pedersen fra MK31/VAT-Copenhagen repræsenterede Danmark i semifinalerne på 100 meter brystsvømning. I finalen forbedrede Matilde sin personlige rekord med 0,09 sekunder og sluttede med tiden 1.05.83 på en 12. plads, mens Josefine blev nummer 16. Svømmerne avancerede henholdsvis 4 og 5 pladser i forhold til deres seedningstider.
Finaleafsnittets sidste løb var kvindernes holdkap i 4x50 meter fri. Danmark havde frem mod finalen skiftet ud på en enkelt plads. Efter de første par holdkapskift lignede det ikke, at Danmark skulle få en medalje, men en flot finish sørgede for, at Danmark blev nummer tre og vandt sin fjerde EM-medalje ved det igangværende europamesterskab.
Udover bronzemedaljen kan holdkappen glæde sig over, at de også forbedrede den danske og nordiske rekord på distancen med henholdsvis 0,24 og 0,22 sekunder.

- Overordnet set har vi haft et rigtig fornuftigt finaleafsnit. Selvom vi lige nu ærgrer os lidt over, at vi kun blev nummer tre i holdkappen, så får vi altså stadig en EM-bronzemedalje og svømmer ny nordisk og dansk rekord på 4x50 meter fri for kvinder, hvilket er rigtig flot. Tobias leverer en sublim præstation i sin semifinale, hvor han forbedrer sin danske rekord markant. Så vi ser frem til at skulle ud at præstere igen i morgen.
Øvrige benævnelsesværdige EM-resultater
Ilya Shymanovich fra Hviderusland svømmede europarekord på 100 meter bryst. Med tiden 55.89 forbedrede hans Adam Peatys rekord med 0.17 sekunder.
Græske Andreas Vazaios svømmede europarekord i herrernes finale på 200 meter medley. Europarekorden er nu så hurtig som 1.50.85, hvilket er en forbedring på 0,51 sekunder af den tidligere rekord, som Laszlo Cseh indtil i aften var indehaver af.
