The second competition day at the
2022 ECA Junior and U23 Canoe Sprint European Championships in Belgrade,
Serbia, brought 500 and 1000 metres semifinals as well as 200 metres heats. We
have the names of those who will fight for the medals in 1000 and 500 metres A
finals.
The names of those who will fight on
Saturday and Sunday in the 1000 and 500 metres events in junior and U23 age
groups at the 2022 ECA Junior and U23 Canoe Sprint European Championships are
known. While some of the fastest boats already advanced directly to the finals
from yesterday’s heats, the rest fought for the remaining places in the A
finals and a chance to win the medal at Ada Ciganlija venue. Ten sets of medals
will be awarded on Saturday to the best in the 1000 metres A finals, while the
500 metres finals are on the programme on Sunday.
In the afternoon part of the
programme the 200 metres heats were on in nine events. Athletes from seven
different countries recorded the fastest overall times of the day in the 200
metres heats. Hungarian canoeist Agness Kiss was the fastest in women’s canoe
junior 200 metres heats and her teammates Panna Gyore and Kira Benkucs were the
best in women’s junior C2 200m heats.
Two representatives of Poland
concluded the heats at the top of their respective events. Katarzyna
Szperkiewicz was the best in women’s U23 C1 200m heats, and Jakub Stepun in
men’s K1 U23 200m event.
Georgian canoeist Aleksandre
Tsivtsivdze was the fastest in men’s C1 junior 200m heats, Pablo Grana from
Spain in MC1 U23 200m heats, Serbian Dunja Stanojev in WK1 junior 200m event,
Yoana Georgieva from Bulgaria in WK1 U23 200m heats and German kayaker Tillmann
Sommer in men’s junior K1 200 metres heats.
On Saturday, the 1000 metres finals
are scheduled in the morning part of the programme, and the 200 metres heats
are on in the afternoon.
