European Aquatics Federation Newsletter Sport Topics


 

This section provides updates for the European Aquatics Championships, new dates for our Coaches Clinics and more.

European Aquatics Championships

    The European Aquatics Masters Championships currently has the following entrants: 1304 for Swimming, 330 for Open Water, 161 for Artistic Swimming, 62 for Diving and approximately 300 athletes across 44 teams for Water Polo.

    Preparations continue ahead of both the Elite and Masters competitions next month, which promise to be great events for athletes, staff and spectators alike.

Other Summer Competitions

• The bulletins for both Men's and Women's U19 European Water Polo Championships 2024 competitions have been shared with the participating National Teams. 

• 131 athletes (81 women and 56 men) from 24 countries competed in the first leg of the European Aquatics Open Water Cup in Piombino on 18th May 2024. Spain’s Angela Martinez Guillen and Italy’s Domenico Acerenza took the respective women’s and men’s titles.

• There were 239 entries from 23 countries at the European Youth Artistic Swimming Championships, which took place in Athens from 23rd-26th May. Results can be found on the European Aquatics website.

Euro Cup Men’s Final Four

    This tournament took place on 17-18 May 2024 in Rijeka, Croatia with the organising host club being VK Primorje Erste Bank.

    It was a great event, with full stands, a great atmosphere, and exciting games. There was a reach of 169,000 across all stories, 775,000 social media impressions and 11,100 streaming views.

    Winner – VK Jug Adriatic Osiguranje

2nd place – VK Primorje Erste Bank

3rd place – Astralpool CN Sabadell

4th place – Spandau 04 Berlin

The Cup and medals were presented by the European Aquatics First Vice President Josip Varvodic, and European Aquatics Bureau Member and Water polo Liaisons Milos Mracevic, followed by Tonci Glavan – Croatian Minister of Sport and Tourism, Marko Filipovic – Mayor of City of Rijeka, Samir Barac – president of VK Primorje Erste Bank and Damir Glavan – Vice president of VK Primorje Erste Bank.

Champions League Men’s Final Four

    The competition will take place from 5th to 7th of June 2024, hosted by the ASA of Malta. The last quarterfinals games are over, and we know the best four teams qualified for the Final Four event. These are: Olympiacos SFP; VK Novi Beograd; Pro Recco; and FTC Telekom Budapest.

    As part of the Champions League Men Final Four event, the annual meeting between European Aquatics, the Clubs and National Federations, will take place on 6 June.

    This meeting will allow stake holders to share and discuss the most important information related to the next water polo season 2024-2025. The meeting will be held at 10:00 AM at the Corinthia Hotel, St George’s Bay, and will be also available online, streamed on our European Aquatics YouTube channel.

    Representatives from all European Water Polo Clubs and National Federations are invited and warmly welcomed to attend either physically or remotely. The event can be followed on our channels.
