European Aquatics can reveal the
finalised competition programme timings for the inaugural European Short Course
Masters Swimming Championships in Portugal.
Madeira 2023 will run from 19-25 in
Funchal and see many of the best masters swimmers from across the continent
race in both pool events, as well as open water distances.
After requests by athletes, European
Aquatics is delighted to confirm that the schedule has been created to ensure
swimmers who enter open water events will not have to miss competitions due to
take place in the pool on the same day.
The 1.5km races will take place on
the second day of competition (20 Nov), with the 3km events day six (24 Nov) at
the LIDO Bathing Complex.
Both will commence at 10:00 (local),
giving athletes plenty of time to complete their races, rest, refuel and travel
to the Panteada Olympic Complex ahead of the start of the day’s pool programme
at 16:30 (local).
Earlier this month the concept
designs for the Madeira 2023 medals were revealed and those wishing to be in
contention for one of the historic items have until 29 October to REGISTER via
the official website.
“I am delighted to confirm the
schedule for Madeira 2023 which crucially will allow swimemrs to compete in
both open water and pool events on the same day, should they wish to,” said LEN
President Antonio Silva.
“I want to thank the local organising
committee and Portugal Swimming Federation for their work bringing this
together in recent months.
President Silva continued; “I know
they, like I, cannot wait to show the swimmers how much Madeira has to offer,
in and out of the water, in November.”
