WORLD TRIATHLON Technical Officials’ selected for Krakow and Santiago

World Triathlon and Europe Triathlon are pleased to announce the International Technical Officials that will officiate at the upcoming 2023 Krakow-Małopolska European Games. There will be 22 National Federations represented, and for the first time ever, 50% of the Officials selected are female, going one step further on the commitment with gender balance within the organization.

All countries represented among the selected Technical Officials submitted the application before the deadline and are not represented with the same nominated Technical Official in Paris 2024 Olympic or Paralympic Games. The team will be a mix of Technical Officials with experience in the previous Games, and some others without any former experience on such level of competitions, which shows the growth of competent officials in the last years.

Europe Triathlon previously announced that Howard Vine (GBR) has been named as the Technical Delegate and Esther Sanchez (ESP) will be the assistant Technical Delegate for Krakow 2023.

The selection of the National Technical Officials from Poland will follow in due course, in accordance with the Technical Officials Appointment Rules.

The Krakow-Małopolska 2023 European Games will host three medal events for Triathlon: Individual Men & Women and the Mixed Relay. Triathlon has been included on the program of the European Games for the second time, after the first edition in Baku 2015.

Santiago Pan American Games

World Triathlon together with Americas Triathlon are ready to announce the International Technical Officials that will be involved at the 2023 Santiago Pan American Games. There will be 18 National Federations represented, with according to other recent selection, 50% of the selected Technical Officials being female.

As in the case of Krakow European Games, all countries represented among the selected Technical Officials submitted the application before the deadline and are not represented with the same nominated Technical Official in Paris 2024 Olympic or the Paralympic Games.

Esteban Benitez (MEX) was named already last year as the Technical Delegate for Santiago 2023.

The selection of the National Technical Officials from Chile will follow in due course in accordance with the Technical Officials Appointment Rules.

The Santiago 2023 Pan American Games will feature three medal events for Triathlon: Individual Men & Women and the Mixed Relay. Triathlon has been on the program of the Pan American Games since 1995.

The Technical Officials were selected for both games in accordance with World Triathlon’s Technical Officials Appointment Rules, which is a multi-phase process that involves creation of eligible list of officials, proposals from the National Federations from the list of eligible officials, selection by the World / Continental Triathlon Technical Committees and Technical Delegate(s) and finally approval from the World / Continental Triathlon Executive Boards.
