The time has come for the first
international canoe slalom races in Europe. Already this weekend the Pyrenees
Cup in Pau will count for the 2023 ECA Open Canoe Slalom European Cup series,
and in the following months we will see many exciting competitions throughout
Europe.
In Canoe Sprint and Canoe Slalom all
eyes will be on the European Games in Krakow. While Canoe Sprint has already
been in the sports programme of the European Games in Baku and Minsk, it will
be a debut for Canoe Slalom in Poland this June. Canoe Sprint will
unfortunately only feature the 200m and 500m events this time because of the
lake specifications, and the competitions will kick off on 21st June. Canoe
Slalom, together with kayak cross, will start on 29th June. The European Games
will count as European Championships and canoe slalom competitions will also be
a continental qualification event for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
The 2023 ECA Canoe Marathon European
Championships will be held in Slavonski Brod, Croatia, between 13th and 16th
July. Earlier in the week, ECA Canoe Marathon Masters Cup will be held in the
same venue.
The best European Canoe Polo teams
will have two European Championships tournaments this year. First, between 5th
and 10th September Brandenburg, Germany, will host the 2023 ECA Canoe Polo
European Championships, and a month later, on 7th and 8th October, Spain’s Arcos
de la Frontera will be the host of the Canoe Polo Clubs European Championships.
The 2023 ECA Wildwater Canoeing
European Championships will return to Skopje, North Macedonia, after six years.
The championships in the Matka Canyon will be held between 16th and 20th May.
The 2023 ECA Paracanoeing European
Championships will be organised together with Junior and U23 Canoe Sprint
European Championships in Montemor-o-Velho, Portugal, between 27th and 30th
July.
A week earlier Bratislava, Slovakia,
will host the 2023 ECA Junior and U23 Canoe Slalom European Championships (20th
– 23rd July).
In addition to European
Championships, there are several competitions in the programme that will count
for the European Cup series in canoe slalom, wildwater canoeing and canoe polo.
Two canoe polo European Cups are
scheduled for June and July in Thury Harcourt (FRA) and Essen (GER).
In the 2023 ECA Open Canoe Slalom
European Cup series there are several competitions that will count for the
series points. The races will be held in Pau, La Seu d’Urgell, Ljubljana –
Tacen, Liptovsky Mikulas, Krakow, Meran, Epinal, Prague and Bratislava.
The 2023 ECA Junior Canoe Slalom
European Cup races will be held in Flattach, Valstagna, Ivrea, Bratislava,
Augsburg, Krakow, Solkan and Roudnice.
The 2023 ECA Wildwater Sprint
Canoeing European Cup races for Juniors and Seniors will be held in Skopje,
Osilnica, Dallenwil, Mezzana and Ceske Budejovice.
