The LEN European U23 Championships,
set to be held in Dublin (IRL) from 11-13 August 2023, will be “open to all”
with non-LEN member federations permitted to enter swimmers in the inaugural
competition.
The new regulations will permit two
teams to participate from the PanAM continental association – one from North
and one from South America.
Those within Oceania, AASF and CANA will
also be permitted to enter one team, with the squad size capped at 14
competitors.
The latest details revealed by
European Aquatics (LEN) also reveal that future editions of the U23
championships will be held in alternate years, immediately prior to the World
Aquatics Championships or immediately following its conclusion.
Finals will be swum over 10 lanes,
featuring a maximum of two non-LEN member athletes and there will be one medal
ceremony per-event, which separates the ‘Open’ from the LEN member Federation
swimmers.
All competitors shall be aged between
19 and 23 years by 31 December in the year of competition, with the minimum age
category being 19 years.
However, as per the initial
competition details revealed last month, for the 2023 Championships a
Federation may enter a maximum of one competitor per event aged 14-18 years
(born 2005-2009) as part of the four competitors per event regulation.

regulations as well the event format, logistics and technical official requirements,
