Hosts Spain claimed the only gold
medal on the penultimate day of the LEN Junior Artistic Swimming Championships
in Alicante with victory in the Team Technical final.
The eight-strong team – Carmen Beato,
Maria Bofill, Aitana Crespo, Mercedes Diaz, Meritxell Ferre, Marina Garcia,
Lilou Lluis and Valeria Vine – scored 84.6081.
France (83.6897) took silver, with
Italy (76.7675) claiming securing bronze.
This latest success for Spain was
their fifth title of the competition, extending their lead over second-placed
Ukraine who have three gold medals.
The visiting nation look well-placed
to add to their haul though on the final day of competition after double
European junior gold medallist Daria Moshynshka topped the standings after the
completion of the female Solo Free Routine preliminary round.
The concluding day of action in
Alicante will see the best young artistic swimmers on the continent contest
four finals.
10:00 – Free Combination Routine
