The second competition day at the 2021 ECA Junior and U23 Wildwater Canoeing European Championships in Solkan brought classic team events. Germany, Czech Republic, Belgium, Italy and France celebrated gold medals.
Both men's kayak events were won by
teams from Belgium. Tristan Meersmans, Braim Vandecastelle and Lean Bogaerts
were more than ten seconds faster than any other team in men's K1 U23 team
classic event. Czech Republic picked up silver medal and Italy bronze.
The Belgium's junior men's K1 team
also reached the top podium position but the difference between the top teams
was much narrower. Kilian Meersmans, Joren Bogaerts and Alban Duvivier crossed
the finish line two seconds faster than the German team, while Czech Republic
won bronze medal. They were only three seconds behind the kayakers from
Belgium.
Czech Republic celebrated three gold
medals today. First in men's junior C1 team event. Karel Rasner, Matej Vanek
and František Salaj were over a minute faster than representatives of France
who were second and team from Germany in third place. In women's canoe U23 team
event Tereza Kneblova, Jana Strlikova and Marie Nemcova won in front of
Italians and French canoeists. And the third gold medal came in men's U23 C2
event. Here Czech Republic won in front of France and Italy.
Germans Greta Zietz, Alina Zimmer and
Marlene Wesseling were unbeatable in women's junior kayak team classic race.
Half a minute behind crossed the finish line Italians who were second, while
bronze medal went to Czech Republic.
Cecilia Panato, Giulia Formenton and
Valeria Donatelli were very happy after their performance in women's U23 kayak
team event. The race was tight as second placed team from Czech Republic
crossed the finish line only 0.62 seconds behind, and Germans were third, 1.27
second behind the winners.
The fastest team in men's C1 U23 team
classic race was French team, composed of Etienne Klatt, Charles Ferrion and
Louis Passernig. Germans were second and Italians third.
On Friday, the championships
continues with wildwater sprint heats.
