Los Alamitos, CA - May 19 - The USA Women continued their winning ways as they ran away with a 17-5 victory over Canada in the second game of their three game exhibition series on Wednesday afternoon at the Los Alamitos Joint Forces Training Base. Maddie Musselman powered Team USA's offense with four goals and two assists while Amanda Longan and Gabby Stone split time in net with each recording six saves.

Team USA's offensive firepower
continued into game two as Alys Williams quickly put Team USA up 1-0. After
shutting down a 6-on-4 Canadian opportunity the USA Women would score two more
goals as they took a 3-0 lead at the end of the first quarter with Musselman
notching her first. It was a similar story in the second as three unanswered
goals pushed Team USA's lead up to 6-0. Canada then responded with their first
from Kyra Christmas on the power play and followed that up with another to make
it 6-2. Team USA closed the half with two more goals including a great behind
the back flip goal over the goalkeeper by Stephania Haralabidis as they pushed
their lead to 8-2 at halftime.
It was all Team USA in the third as
their defense continued to shut down Canada while the offense scored five more
times powered by five different scorers as the USA Women increased their lead
to 13-2. Canada regrouped after the third and came out firing as Amanda Amorosa
connected on a goal to cut it to 13-3. Team USA didn't step off the gas though
as Captain Maggie Steffens ripped a goal in off a great pass from Haralabidis
to make it 14-3. From there the teams exchanged goals with Rachel Fattal
putting the final nail in the coffin as Team USA prevailed 17-5.
Team USA went 4/7 on power plays and
did not attempt a penalty while Canada was 1/6 on the power play and did not
attempt a penalty
