Barcelona to host FINA Artistic Swimming Qualification for Tokyo & ASWS Super Final

Barcelona and the Royal Spanish Swimming Federation are getting ready to welcome many of the best artistic swimmers of the planet, gathering in the Catalonian capital to compete in both the Super Final of the 2021 FINA Artistic Swimming World Series, but also at the FINA Olympic Qualification Tournament to determine the athletes for the remaining spots for the Tokyo Games. The two competitions will run in parallel from June 10-13, 2021.

As many of the aquatic events have seen adjustments, postponements, and cancelations, FINA has shown commitment, persistence, and flexibility, while successfully organising several Artistic Swimming events despite the difficulties and challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. The organisation of these two events in Barcelona, host of the 2003 and 2013 FINA World Championships, is part of this effort, underlining FINA’s will to minimise, to the extent possible, the consequences of the COVID-19 crisis for our Stars.

At the Olympic Games, the Artistic Swimming programme includes two events, the Duet and the Team events. The results for those two events are calculated by adding 50% of the Technical Routines’ scores to 50% of the Free Routines’ scores for each participant.

The Artistic Swimming World Series’ events programme, aimed at showcasing the development, inclusiveness, and the growth of the discipline, also features the Technical and Free Solo events in both the Female and Male categories, as well as the Mixed Duet events and the very exciting Combination and Highlight events.
