Member organisations of the
International Paralympic Committee (IPC) will this week participate in a
one-day Extraordinary General Assembly and two-day long Membership Gathering.
During Wednesday’s (16 November)
Extraordinary General Assembly, IPC members will discuss and determine the
membership status of NPC Russia and NPC Belarus.
On Thursday and Friday (17 and 18
November), attendees will receive progress updates from IPC President Andrew
Parsons, CEO Mike Peters, and Chief Membership and Impact Officer Kristina
Molloy. Members will also be updated on the IPC Strategic Plan 2023-2026.
Following approval of a new IPC
Constitution by the 2021 IPC General Assembly, IPC Vice President Duane Kale
will present the feedback received from members on proposed changes to the
composition of the IPC Governing Board and membership obligations. These
subjects were not covered in last year’s General Assembly due to Governing
Board elections. Final proposals will be put forward for members to vote on at
the 2023 IPC General Assembly.
An update will also be provided on
the ongoing Classification Code Review, while members will be invited to take
part in an interactive session on what more can be done to assist athletes with
high support needs in the Paralympic Movement.
Over the course of the two days,
three panel sessions will take place covering membership programmes,
mentorship, and athlete representation.
