The course in Ceske Budejovice hosted
the 2022 ECA Wildwater Sprint Canoeing European Cup race and all the wins in
five events stayed in the hands of Czech competitors.
Just a week ago young wildwater
canoeing competitors fought for the Junior and U23 European Champion titles at
the 2022 ECA Junior and U23 Wildwater Canoeing European Championships in Banja
Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina, where Czech competitors dominated in majority of
the events. The European Cup race held this weekend in Ceske Budejovice was
similar. In five events that were held on the Vltava River, all five gold
medals stayed in the hands of local competitors.
Athletes from Czech Republic,
Slovenia, Switzerland, Austria, France, Bosnia and Herzegovina and North
Macedonia took part in one of the last major international wildwater
competitions in the season 2022.
Marie Nemcova who was very
successfully representing Czech Republic at Junior and U23 European
Championships in Banja Luka was again the strongest in both women's events. In
kayak, she was a second faster than her teammate Tereza Kneblova and Klara
Vankova, who like Nemcova and Kneblova represented her country at recently
concluded European Championships was third.
In women's canoe Nemcova finished the
race ahead of Anna Retkova and Jana Strlikova, who were among the medallists of
the Junior and U23 European Championships last week.
The fastest in men's kayak was
Vojtech Matejicek who concluded the race a second ahead of Anze Urankar from
Slovenia, the 2017 Senior World Champion. Mikulas Zapletal from Czech Republic
was third, and the reigning world champion Nejc Znidarcic was outside the
podium, in fourth place.
Czech competitors were places first,
second and third in men's canoe final. Matej Vanek was celebrating a win ahead
of Vladimir Slanina and Marek Rygel. Vanek also won in C2 event, where he
paddled together with Karel Rasner. Vaclav Svadlena and Martin Novak were
second, while Alva Beier and Matous Beier concluded the race in third place.
