The beautiful island of Ibiza, in Spain, will host the World Triathlon Multisport Championships from 29 April to 7 May, 2023. Santa Eulalia will host the Aquathlon and Duathlon races, while San Antonio will be the perfect scenario for Cross Triathlon and Cross Duathlon. The capital of the island, Ibiza, will welcome the participants of the Long Distance Triathlon and Aquabike World Championships.
The Mediterranean island, that
already hosted the European version of the event in 2018, is ready to welcome
triathletes from all over the world for 10 days of sport at it its best in
2023.
“The Multisport World Championships
has been one of our most successful events in the last few years since we
launched this product, and I am sure that the perfect combination of welcoming
people, great weather conditions and stunning scenarios combining pristine
beaches with wonderful nature will be a great setting for the Ibiza Multisport
World Championships. We are also extremely proud of Ibiza hosting this event in
2023, a clear proof of the legacy of our events, returning to the island only a
few years after hosting the European event”, said World Triathlon President and
IOC member, Marisol Casado.
The 2023 Multisport World
Championships will start on Saturday, 29 April, with the Duathlon Elite, U23,
Juniors and Age Group Sprint World Championships, followed the next day, Sunday
30 April, by the Para duathlon, Age Group Standard distance and Mixed Relay
Duathlon World Championships, all of them with start and finish planned in Santa
Eulalia, a small town located on the eastern coast of Ibiza only 20km away from
the airport.
On Tuesday, 2 May, it will be the
turn for the Cross Duathlon World Championships, that will take place in San
Antonio, a lively resort set in a beautiful open bay on the west coast of the
island, but also less than 15km away from the airport. On Thursday, 4 May San
Antonio will also welcome participants of the Cross Triathlon World
Championships, while the participants of the Aquathlon event will take the stage
in Santa Eulalia on Friday, 5 May.
Sunday, 5 May, will be the date set
on many calendars as it will be the day for the Long Distance Triathlon World
Championships and Aquabike Championships, that will take place in the capital
of the island Ibiza.
President of the Spanish Triathlon
Federation José Hidalgo said: “This is a project of the whole island of Ibiza.
We will be hosting six world championships in 10 days, and we will welcome over
4,000 participants and more than 12,000 friends and families, from all over the
world. We are focus not only on organising great sporting events, but also on
providing all athletes an incredible experience. And we are also committed with
sustainability, willing to prove here in Ibiza that sport has a great role on
generating a more healthy, sustainable and valuable society for everyone”.

to the impact of Covid and in 2021 was split in three different locations:

Duathlon World Championships were organised in Aviles, Spain, and the Cross
Triathlon World Championships took place in El Anillo, Spain.
