The European canoeing season is already in full swing with national and international competitions which serve as selection races for many as well as good training competitions for the upcoming international races of the highest level. The first ECA European Championships of the year 2022 will be held between 26th and 29th May in Liptovsky Mikulaš, Slovakia, where the best senior canoe slalom paddlers will fight for the European Champion titles.
The 2022 ECA Canoe Slalom European
Championships will head to Slovakia, more precisely to Liptovsky Mikulaš, for
the third time in history of the ECA European Championships. This Slovak city,
where legendary Michal Martikan was born, hosted the 2007 and 2016 editions of
the championships. The first ECA Championships of the year will take place
between 26th and 29th May.
While the season starts with canoe
slalom European Championships, the peak will be in August when Canoe Sprint and
Paracanoe will be a part of the multi-sport European Championships Munich 2022
for the first time in history. The athletes will fight for the medals in Munich
at the 1972 Olympic venue between 18 and 21 August.
The 2022 ECA Canoe Marathon European
Championships is heading to Denmark, as Silkeborg will host this competition
between 28 and 31 July. The 2022 ECA Ocean Racing European Championships will
be held between 12 and 18 September in Cagliari, Italy, while the 2022 ECA ECA
Canoe Polo Club Championships will be organised in Belfast, United Kingdom on
24th and 25th September.
The 2022 ECA Junior and U23 Canoe
Sprint European Championships will be organised in Belgrade, Serbia. The Ada
Ciganlija venue has experience organising top level competitions, and in the
past years they have organised senior and Junior/U23 European Championships.
This championships is scheduled for 23 – 26 June. Young canoe slalom paddlers
will compete in Ceske Budejovice, Czech Republic, at the 2022 ECA Junior and
U23 Canoe Slalom European Championships between 11 and 14 August. Junior and
U23 Wildwater Canoeing European Championships is scheduled between 25 and 28
August in Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
In addition to European Championships
there have already been and will be organised also European Cups: European Open
Canoe Slalom Cups, ECA Junior European Canoe Slalom Cups, ECA Canoe Polo Cup
and ECA Wildwater Sprint Canoeing European Cups.
