The bad news comes for canoe polo national teams as the Royal Spanish Canoe Federation officially announced the withdrawal from the organisation of the 2021 ECA Canoe Polo European Championships.
Burriana
(Castellón) was supposed to host this year’s ECA Canoe Polo European Championships
in late summer, however the difficult and uncertain times have forced the organisers
to take the hard decision and to cancel the planned tournament. One of the main
reasons for cancellation, besides the health situation, was also the proximity
of the Canoe Polo World Championships which was postponed from last year.
"Canoeing
Federation of the Valencian Community is sorry to make such a decision, because
after organising the European Clubs Championships in 2016, we were very excited
about this Championships. We appreciate the trust that you put in us, but no
one could foresee that the world was going to go through the moments we are
going through and that it was going to impact everyone's life in this
way," they wrote in the official cancellation letter.
