Since the
Luxembourg Prime Minister announced on Wednesday the extension of the Corona measures
until 15 January 2021, the organizing committee of the 23rd Luxembourg Euro
Meet does not see itself in a position to hold the meet planned for 29 to 31
January with its high quality standards. "The decision was very difficult
for us. But we are aware of the current difficult situation regarding training
and travel possibilities for swimmers all over Europe. We are now focusing on
the alternative date of 19-21 March 2021," says meet director Serge
Hollerich.
The second
alternative date (16-18 April 2021) is no longer in the focus, due to the
feedback from many national teams, as numerous national championships or
Olympic trials are scheduled for April.
As in the
last two years, the Euro Meet will be a leg of the LEN Swimming Cup of the
European Swimming Federation (Ligue Européenne de Natation) and a qualifying
competition for the 2021 Olympic Games in Tokyo and the 2022 World
Championships in Fukuoka, Japan.
