Am kommenden Mittwoch starten die LEN European Short Course Swimming Championships, wo die Schweiz mit 3 Athletinnen und 5 Athleten vertreten ist.
Das Schweizer Team
Die acht Athleten werden am Sonntag, 1. Dezember nach Glasgow reisen, wo die Wettkämpfe am Mittwoch, 4. Dezember beginnen. Angeführt wird die Mannschaft von Maria Ugolkova, der EM Bronzemedaillengewinnerin vom vergangenen Jahr.
Zahlreiche Athleten verzichten aus verschiedenen Gründen auf die Teilnahme an dieser Kurzbahn-EM, so auch der Schweizer Topschwimmer Jérémy Desplanches.
Betreut wird die Mannschaft vom Chef Leistungssport Markus Buck. Er wird unterstützt durch die Coaches Massimo Meloni (Training Base Tenero), Dirk Reinicke (Limmat Sharks Zürich) und Pablo Kutscher (Uster Wallisellen), sowie dem Physiotherapeuten Hugo Pinto.
Zielsetzungen
Die EMKB ist der int. Zielwettkampf auf der 25m-Bahn und damit einerseits ein „Spezialisten Wettkampf“, andererseits bietet die EMKB Perspektivathleten die Möglichkeit wichtige int. Erfahrung zu sammeln. Für die teilnehmenden Kurzbahnspezialisten ist es Ziel sich im Anschlussbereich der Europäischen Spitze zu etablieren, mindestens also Semifinaleinzüge/TOP16 und mehr zu erreichen. Darüber hinaus soll im direkten Vergleich mit der Europäischen Spitze, Wettkampfhärte und Erfahrung auf höchstem Niveau gesammelt werden.
Spezielle sportliche Ausgangslagen
- Maria Ugolkova zählt über 200 Lagen zu den Medaillenanwärterinnen. Sie befindet sich in einer bestechenden Form, nicht weniger als 6 Schweizerrekorde hat Ugolkova im letzten Monat aufgestellt. Vor zwei Jahren verpasste sie die Medaille als Vierte nur knapp.
- Die letzte Medaille an einer Kurzbahn-EM gewann Flori Lang am 9. Dezember 2011 in Szczechin (POL) über 50 Rücken, mit dem immer noch bestehenden Schweizerrekord.
- Mit neu aufgestellten Schweizerrekorden reisen auch Lisa Mamié (Rekord über 50 Brust) und Thierry Bollin (Rekord über 100 Rücken) mit Ambitionen nach Glasgow: Mamié möchte über die 200 Brust ins Finale, wo alles möglich ist. Bollin will seinen Rekord über 100 Rücken bestätigen und über 50 Rücken noch etwas zulegen. In dieser Form ist Bollin bereit für den Finaleinzug.
- Yannick Käser verpasste an den KBSM seinen Schweizer Rekord über 200 Brust nur knapp. Unterbietet er diese Zeit, ist ein Finaleinzug möglich.
- Junioreneuropameister Noè Ponti zeigte vielversprechende Leistungen im Herbst. Kann er noch etwas zulegen und in die Halbfinals einziehen?
- Dasselbe Ziel hegt auch Nina Kost, die über alle ihre Disziplinen (50 und 100 Freistil und Rücken) Halbfinalchancen hat, sofern sie an ihre Schweizerrekorde in diesen Disziplinen herankommt.
- Erstmals dabei an internationalen Meisterschaften sind Sinan Rüegg und Thomas Hallock. Hallock ist Auslandschweizer, lebt in den USA und trainiert an der Virginia Tech University. Er wird dort trainiert vom spanischen Olympiamedaillengewinner von 1988 und US-Startrainer Sergio López Miro, der auch Olympiasieger Joe Schooling (Singapur) trainierte.
- Ein Exploit mit der Mixed Lagenstaffel ist nicht auszuschliessen. Die Staffelbesetzung wird vor Ort bestimmt.
