Den Organisatoren des Euro Meet ist es gelungen, einige der besten Sprinter der Welt nach Luxemburg zu locken. Im Freistilsprint trifft der Brasilianer Bruno Fratus, WM-Zweiter 2017 und 2019 auf den WM-Dritten von 2017 und Europameister 2018 Benjamin Proud aus Großbritannien.
Bruno Fratus verpasste bei den Olympischen Spielen 2012 als Vierter über 50m Freistil die Bronzemedaille knapp um zwei Hundertstelsekunden und musste sich im Frühjahr 2013 dann einer Schulteroperation unterziehen. 2015 feierte der 30-Jährige mit Bronze bei der Weltmeisterschaft in Kazan sein Comeback und legte mit WM-Silber 2017 in Budapest und 2019 in Gwangju nach, wo er sich nur dem US-Superstar Caleb Dressel geschlagen geben musste.
Sein fünf Jahre jüngerer Konkurrent Benjamin Proud gewann 2017 bei der Weltmeisterschaft in Budapest Bronze über 50m Freistil und Bronze über 50m Schmetterling. Im vergangenen Jahr wurde der Brite Europameister bei den European Championships in Glasgow über 50m Freistil.
Mit Andriy Govorov gesellt sich ein Dritter Superstar im Sprint hinzu. Der Ukrainer ist amtierender Weltrekordhalter (22,27) über 50m Schmetterling und gewann Bronze bei der WM 2017 in Budapest sowie EM-Gold 2016 in London und 2018 in Glasgow.
