Syv danskere var i vandet under EM-finalerne lørdag aften i Glasgow.
Danmark havde inden finaleafsnittet lørdag aften en enkelt finale at se frem. Det lavede Julie Kepp Jensen fra A6 / NTC dog om på i aftenens første løb, som var kvindernes semifinale i 50 meter rygcrawl. Her imponerede Julie stort, idet hun ikke kun slog sin personlige rekord – hun forbedrede også den nordiske og danske rekord på distancen med 0,08 sekunder, så rekorden nu er 26.31. Begge rekorder har tilhørt Mie Østergaard Nielsen fra Aalborg Svømmeklub siden 2014.
Med tiden kvalificerede Julie sig til EM-finalen, som blev svømmet senere på aftenen. I finaleløbet resulterede en mindre god vending i, at rygcrawleren ikke svømmede op til semifinaletiden. Julie slog ind i 26.50 og blev nummer syv.
Danmarks anden EM-finalist var brystsvømmer Tobias B. Bjerg fra AGF / NTC. I finalen gjorde Tobias flot figur, da han for første gang svømmede under 57 sekunder og dermed forbedrede sin personlige og danske rekord med 0.16 sekunder til tiden 56.98. Tobias kom i mål som nummer syv.
Den 16-årige EM-debutant fra Herlev Svømning / NTC Rasmus Nickelsen havde i formiddags kvalificeret sig til EM-semifinalerne på 50 meter butterfly. Det havde han gjort i tiden 23.01, hvilket var ny personlig rekord på distancen samt dansk juniorrekord. I semifinalen svømmede han 0,03 sekunder hurtigere og forbedrede således sin juniorrekord til 22.98. Rasmus slutter som nummer 15 i disciplinen ved sit første europæiske seniormesterskab.
Emilie Beckmann fra Tune IF / GTI / NTC og Caroline Erichsen fra Sigma Swim Birkerød var til start i kvindernes EM-semifinaler på 100 meter butterfly. Med tiden 56.75 avancerede Emilie til finalen, der svømmes søndag aften, i næsthurtigste tid. Caroline slog ind i tiden 58.13 og blev samlet nummer 11.
I formiddags havde Mathias Zander Rysgaard i ny dansk rekord på 100 meter fri kvalificeret sig til herrernes EM-semifinale. Mathias formåede ikke at forbedre sin kvalifikationstid på 47.37 i semifinalen, og han ender som nummer 16.
I kvindernes semifinale på 100 meter rygcrawl var Danmark også repræsenteret ved Victoria Bierre fra Herlev Svømning / NTC. Hun blev nummer 16.
Landstræner i Dansk Svømmeunion Stefan Hansen siger følgende om aftenens EM-finaler:
- Det har været en solid dansk aften, hvor vi slår en nordisk- og to danske seniorrekorder samt en dansk juniorrekord. Præstationerne er tydelige tegn på, at vi tager endnu et skridt mod den europæisk top, som vi hastigt nærmer os. I morgen ser jeg frem til flere spændende løb, og jeg har stor tiltro til, at vi slutter EM af med maner.
Øvrige benævnelsesværdige EM-resultater
I 4x50 meter fri mix svømmede Rusland ny europarekord. Med tiden 1.28.31 forbedrer de Hollands rekord fra EM i Royal Arena med 0,08 sekunder. Holdkappen bestod af Vladimir Morozov, Vladislav Grinev, Arina Surkova og Maria Kameneva.
