Danmarks svømmere svømmer videre på EM-succes.
Første indledende løb ved formiddagens EM-afsnit i Glasgow var 100 meter brystsvømning for kvinder. Danmark var repræsenteret med fire svømmere. Bedst gik det for Josefine B. Pedersen fra MK31/VAT-Copenhagen, som med en lille personlig rekord svømmede sig videre til aftenens semifinaler i 13. hurtigste tid. Også Matilde Schrøder fra Berns Swim Team / NTC er videre til semifinalerne. Det er hun som nummer 15.
Brystsvømmer Tobias B. Bjerg fra AGF / NTC var i EM-bassinet i herrernes 100 meter brystsvømning. Med tiden 57.62, som kun er 0,03 sekunder fra hans danske rekord på distancen, avancerede Tobias til semifinalerne som nummer fem.
Afsnittets overraskelse stod Helena Rosendahl Bach fra Holstebro SvømmeClub for. Med en forbedring af sin personlige rekord på 0,59 sekunder er hun med tiden 2.06.47 på 200 meter butterfly klar til EM-finalen i 3. hurtigste tid, hvilket er Danmarks femte finaleplads ved det igangværende EM. Helena var inden løbet seedet som nummer ni.
Danmark fik også sin sjette EM-finaleplads. Den kom i hus, da den danske kvindeholdkap i 4x50 meter fri kvalificerede sig i 3. hurtigste tid til finalen, der svømmes fredag aften.
Gårsdagens semifinalist på 100 meter medley Regitze Gaard fra Kvik Kastrup var også i aktion på 200 meter butterfly. Hun svømmede 2.09.57, hvilket er personlig rekord med 0,78 sekunder. Regitze ender på en samlet 13. plads.
Den talentfulde juniorsvømmer Rasmus Nickelsen fra Herlev Svømning / NTC var i vandet i herrernes 50 meter fri. Her forbedrede EM-debutanten med tiden 22.27 sin personlige rekord med 0,04 sekunder.
