World Triathlon approves over-arching Strategic Plan for 2022-2025

Over the past months, the global triathlon community has come together to produce the next four-year World Triathlon Strategic Plan, designed to develop the sport globally in the most sustainable and inclusive ways possible.

The roadmap was drawn up with the consultation and voices of elite athletes and elite para triathletes, age-groupers, World Triathlon’s Committees and Commissions, National Federation members, Continental Confederations, staff, Executive Board members and key external stakeholders.

With such a broad range of input, the aim is for triathlon to continue to develop, innovate and include, positioning our organization as a key factor on the triathlon market and providing more opportunities within the sport to more people in more countries than ever before. The strategic plan will also drive the organisation towards more commercial goals within the market of the sport of triathlon.

“For the next four years, the over-arching goal for World Triathlon is to lead the global Triathlon Community in growing a more sustainable sport for all to participate in,” said World Triathlon President Marisol Casado. “We want to build and highlight the extraordinary in our people and our practices, all the while protecting the environments on which our sport depends.”

“We will strive for excellence in our events, both for those racing and the Local Organising Committees and host cities, providing the support and leadership that will continue to make our sport one of the fastest growing, most responsible and inclusive of all. We will seek to innovate, as always using technology to enhance all areas of triathlon, and we will govern with the fairness, equity and integrity that we take great pride in. We couldn’t be more excited for what the next four years hold for our sport.”

Central to the new Strategic Plan will be the ongoing development of all member National Federations, providing the guidance where needed, both directly and through the Continental Confederations, to advance the sport and elevate governance all around the world.

Collectively, the plans will help triathlon to grow sustainably and responsibly towards the Paris 2024 and LA 2028 and explore opportunities to further expand its presence at future Olympic and Paralympic Games.
