The 2021 ECA Canoe Freestyle European Championships in Vaires-sur-Marne has concluded with five finals and European Champion titles that went to Ireland, Germany, Great Britain and France.
The host nation was thrilled after
canoe decked surface final where all three medals for the grabs stayed in
France. 20-year-old Tom Dolle won the European Champion title thanks to his
second run and 963.33 points that were awarded to him for the moves he showed.
His teammate Sebastien Devred picked up silver medal with the first run
performance and 750.00 points, while Jean-Yves Moustrou collected 533.33 points
for a bronze medal. Britons Matthew Stephenson and James Ibbotson were fourth
and fifth.
David McClure was unbeatable in
senior men’s kayak surface final. 26-year-old Irishman, who was fifth at the
last World Championships in 2019, won with a score 1496.67 for the European
Champion title. Joaquim Fontane I Maso from Spain was second thanks to his final
try in the third run and 1130.00 points, while Sebastien Devred won his second
medal of the day with a score 1100.00. Tom Dolle was fourth and Polish
representative Tomasz Czaplicki fifth.
Two times Junior World Champion and
medallist of previous European Championships Otillie Robinson-Shaw celebrated
senior European Champion title after 750.00 points she received in the first
run. Zofia Tula from Poland was second with 463.33 points and Ireland’s Aoife
Hanrahan third with 363.33 points. Nuria Fontane I Maso from Spain won fourth
place and her compatriot Mireia Serres Segarra was fifth.
Good save the Queen also played in
honour of Toby Marlow, who won in men’s junior kayak surface final. Score
833.33 brought him a confident win in the final where Tim Rees from Germany
took silver medal (580.00 points) and Unai Silva Fores from Spain bronze medal
(513.33 points). Germans Paul Ernst and Leon Jorel Stroemer were fourth and
fifth.
Germany won two medals in women’s
junior kayak surface final.Merle Hauser was the one who stood on the highest
podium position after she received 440.00 points in her second run. Her
teammate Ida Wellensiek was thirdwith 123.33 points. In-between came Jennifer
Leal from Great Britain who received 250.00 points for the silver medal. Nele
Barwich from Germany was fourth and Julie Huet from France fifth.
