of Darren Miller, Three Rivers, Pennsylvania.
Darren Millerorganized the Three Rivers Marathon Swim (3RMS), a 30 km (18.6-mile) river charity swimfor the Forever Fund.
The course includes a 10 km swim each in the Ohio River, Allegheny River, and Monongahela Rivers and benefits families in need of help to cover the costs associated with infant and cardio-thoracic surgery.
Miller explained, "We are very excited to report that we had a perfect Saturday in Pittsburgh for the Three Rivers Marathon Swim - each of the five swimmers finished strong down the Allegheny. We had unseasonably high water temperatures in the upper-70s, with air temperatures hovering in the low-80s. Two escort boats assisted with dual kayaking teams to keep a watchful eye on our swimmers as they paced the 30 km distance in the Ohio, Monongahela and Allegheny Rivers around the City of Steel.
Our amazing volunteer staff of kayakers, escort boats, Pittsburgh River Rescue and Pittsburgh Police did a phenomenal effort to keep our swimmers safe. We are beginning to establish committees to handle a full field of swimmers in 2016 and could not be more eager to keep the momentum going strong for for the future of this powerful charity event."
3RMS Results:
1. Sarah Thomas and John Humenik - 7:48:48 (course record)
3. Kristin Josephine - 8:25:00
4. Chris Greene - 8:35:50
5. Kimberly Plewa - 10:16:34
