The Solstice Swim is the first swim on the new Mountain Swim Series with 500m, 1.2- and 2.4-mile swims in the Union Reservoir in Longmont, Colorado held during the Kineticists Festival.

5,000 feet (1,524m) in altitude and catering to the many locals and triathletes who desire more open water swimming competitions, 129 swimmers took to the 77°F water after professional swimmer Joey Pedraza gave tips and advice at the pre-race swim clinic.

"Olympic triathlete Jarrod Shoemaker and Flora Duffy won 1.2-mile race while Joey Pedrazaand Lindsey DeNeen won the 2.4-mile swim while the Athletes in Tandem pulled two disabled athletes in rafts for the 2.4-mile swim," reported race director Geoff Hawksworth.

"The next event on the Mountain Swim Series is the Carter Lake Crossing on July 11th, an end-to-end reservoir crossing. The third and last event of the series is the Chatfield Classic."
