Like many Australian women over the generations, Tara Diversi is a very fast marathon swimmer. She has two fast Oceans Seven channels under her swim cap: 9 hours 45 minutes across the English Channel and 3 hours 24 minutes across the Strait of Gibraltar.
Diversi is completing her Ph.D. with a team comprising of Bond University and the Australian Institute of Sport. "We have a range of research projects including my Ph.D. and a couple of honors research projects. We were initially looking at the entirety of marathon swimming, but have decided based on the research we have completed last year to focus on studies that relate to events similar to the English Channel.
One study is a survey of aspiring channel swimmers."
Aspiring English Channel soloists are encouraged to complete their survey here.
"We have had 83 [swimmers] complete the survey so far, and we are hoping for at least 100. It takes about 30 - 45 minutes and needs to be done on a computer, so it's perfect for a post long swim recovery."
