Chip Peterson and American teammate Christine Jennings both won the 10 km Traversée internationale du lac St-Jean that doubles up as a leg on the FINA/HOSA 10K Marathon Swimming World Cup. The Americans very comfortably won in 1:57:37 and 2:09:15 respectively on July 23rd.
14 men and 6 women took part in the event that is usually much better attended by the world's elite swimmers; however, with the FINA World Swimming Championships starting in Kazan, Russia on the same week, the field was thinner than previous years.
Nevertheless, it has been quite a summer for Peterson who also won the FINA/HOSA 10K marathon in Setúbal, Portugal and the Pan American Games 10 km marathon swim.
Meanwhile Jennings picked up another win to go alongside her other victories that ranged from the BCT Gdynia Marathon in Poland, the Great North Swim and the Pan Pacific Championships to the RCP Tiburon Mile in San Francisco Bay, the Traversée Internationale du Lac Mégantic in Canada, and the Faros Marathon in Croatia.
